If you remember the news about the statue of Edward Colston, then you know the story. If not, Edward Colston was an English merchant known for being involved in the slave trade in Bristol. His statue took down by protestors in 2020. There are a lot of figures that depicted enslavers and other human rights abuses, like Christopher Columbus and Robert Milligan.
So, this statue takedown news inspired other protestors to take down these statues. We all should learn more about activists and revolutionaries who fought for peace and equality. That’s why people on Twitter share photos of them these days.
